Project Instructions

Materials

Natural Wooden Tray Round (29cm x cm H)
PVA Adhesive
Black Grout
1 x La Grande Mandala No. 1
Tweezers
Paint brush or tool for spreading the adhesive
Gloves, containers, rags or sponge for grouting

Steps

Choose Your Materials

We used Mandala Shapes for this project, and these tiles fit together perfectly without needing to cut them, so you can easily make beautiful mandalas and patterns.

2. Lay The Tiles Out

Before you begin, lay out your tiles starting from the inside of the mandala and working outwards. This will make it easier when you begin placing your tiles in the adhesive.

3. Adhere The Tiles

The easiest way to adhere the tiles is to spread a bed of adhesive onto the wooden tray and position the tiles in the adhesive. Start from the outer rim of the tray, working inwards as you place your tiles. You may need to work your tiles into position as your mandala takes shape.

4. Grouting

When it's time to grout, remember to wear gloves to protect your hands, as the grout can dry them out. Mix a small amount of powdered grout with water until it reaches a porridge-like consistency. Apply a small amount of grout onto the tiles and work it into the gaps between them. Once you've covered the entire mosaic, remove the excess grout and let it dry.

5. Buff Clean

After the grout has started to dry and become dull, use a sponge to carefully remove the excess grout. Allow it to dry for 24 hours, and then give it a final buff-up to eliminate any remaining excess grout.
